Gavin Duncan is a self taught photographer based in the Central belt of Scotland. He first picked up a camera in 2008 to document his travels around Australia and New Zealand. It wasn’t until 6 or 7 years later that his love for the art and the whole process would flourish and he soon found himself dedicating more time to learning all aspects of photography. With this new found knowledge, he found himself out in all weathers creating images but gravitating more towards peaceful/idyllic scenes, often by the Lochside or deep in undiscovered woodland.
Creating images in forests and wooded areas is both challenging and rewarding. Organising the often chaotic elements into an image which feels balanced and flows is the ultimate goal he tries to achieve when out photographing. He enjoys the interplay between colours and textures, dark and light, to try and convey a sense of the scene or evoke an emotional response to his images.
