At home alone in the wilderness, Andy MacDougall is drawn to making landscape images in wild locations and weather, particularly where life shows a tenacious grip in inhospitable conditions. He is inspired by the persistence of life and the immense age of the Scottish landscape that changes and adapts but remains stolidly steadfast and resolute, continuously enduring.
Andy holds a degree in design and also enjoys pottery & sculpture. He takes great pleasure from the entire photographic process of immersive photography – gathering knowledge of Scotland’s geography as he explores remote areas of the country, driving, camping, hiking, researching the history of locations and often writing creatively about making his photographs.
Regularly shortlisted and awarded in national photographic competitions, he occasionally exhibits his images in print and regularly posts them online where he has received approximately 3/4 million image views.
