Mark’s day job as a Search and Rescue helicopter winchman paramedic allows him to get unparalleled views of Scotland’s wild coasts and dramatic mountains. With a passion for exploring on foot the views seen from the air, his first venture into photography was simply to try and capture the moment for prosperity’s sake. Mark quickly progressed from simply capturing the moment, to capturing the light, beauty and feel of a specific place in time, with the aspiration of making the viewer feel engaged with him, the photographer.
Mark is truly passionate about his photography and takes every opportunity he can to be out with his camera. The marriage of landscape photography with the outdoors provides complete escapism from his demanding day job. He is enthusiastic about the light at the start and end of the day and aims to capture the illumination of the landscape giving a different perspective on a well-known ‘view’. Of course, capturing that light means hiking for hours in the dead of night; but, the spectacle of sunrise and sunset, along with the sights and sounds of the nocturnal wildlife make it all worthwhile.
